The 15th Annual Columbus City Schools Poetry Slam marked a milestone year, celebrating student voice, creativity, and courage. Nearly 50 middle and high school poets took the stage to perform original works ranging from witty reflections to powerful, socially conscious themes.

Each year thousands of local students light up their stages in arts and theatrical events, and Columbus City Schools are proud to applaud 10 of our students and/or programs nominated for the 2026 Marquee Awards from the Columbus Association for the Performing Arts (CAPA).

Columbus City Schools graduate Brandan Hayes has been named the 2026 Young Engineer of the Year for helping shape infrastructure across the city he proudly calls home.

Magellan Moore III admits that as a high school student, he was still finding his footing. Everything changed when he enrolled in Career-Technical Education (CTE).
